The Literacy Experience was founded to deliver that approach at scale, combining certified expertise, technology-driven insight, and the kind of genuine human connection that makes learning click.
Built on Science, but Driven by Relationships
Felicity launched the Literacy Experience after years working in K-12 education and witnessing a troubling gap: schools had the desire to help struggling readers but lacked the tools, training, and capacity to do it effectively. She set out to change that by creating a full-service literacy organization that handles everything from assessment to family engagement.
The Science of Reading tells us that skilled reading is built from two interwoven strands: word recognition (phonological awareness, decoding, and sight recognition) and language comprehension (vocabulary, background knowledge, language structure, verbal reasoning, and literacy knowledge). Our programs are designed to strengthen both by serving students, schools, nonprofit organizations, and families across Northeast Florida.

Most reading programs hand you a score and leave you to figure out the rest. We wanted something better. Together, with the University of North Florida (UNF) we built a proprietary analytics platform that doesn’t just measure where students are — it tells our instructors exactly where the disconnect is happening and what to do about it.
What does that mean for you? With a team of educators, engineers, and PhD researchers by your side, there's no guessing or wasted weeks teaching to the wrong gap. Students, parents, and program leaders can log in to their unique portal to see real-time progress, review results, and watch growth happen without waiting on a quarterly report. It's all housed in a secure environment built to protect every student's data and privacy.
